A chat with the outstanding Cuban novelist Leonardo Padura, the author of the best-seller

The Man Who Loved Dogs (Farrar, Straus & Giroux) brings to life one of the most fascinating and complex political narratives of the past 100 years: the events leading to the assassination of Leon Trotsky by Ramón Mercader.
Padura’s historically researched plot, brilliantly interwoven in contemporary Cuba, a Spain torn by civil war, and in the countries travelled by Trotsky until his final demise in Mexico, is a devastating commentary on the insidious and virulent nature of totalitarian ideologies.
Leonardo Padura was born in Havana,
Cuba, in 1955. A novelist, journalist
and critic, he is the author of several
novels and two volumes of short stories.
The chat will be moderated in English and Spanish by Baruch College professor Ted Henken, and is presented in collaboration with Farrar, Straus & Giroux and BOMB Magazine.
