Join us for a fascinating lecture by Cuban-American clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst Ernesto Mujica on the impact of bilingualism on memory, affect, and access to dissociated aspects of traumatic experiences. The impact of bilingual psychotherapy on the therapeutic process, including transference and countertransference, will be explored. Followed by a Q&A with the audience.

Ernesto Mujica, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, graduate of NYU and the William Alanson White Institute for Psychoanalysis. He is an Associate Editor of the institute’s Journal, Contemporary Psychoanalysis, and is Director of the institute’s “Sexual Abuse Study Group and Service”. Dr. Mujica is a clinical supervisor at the clinical psychology doctoral program of Teacher’s Colllege, Columbia University, and at the City University of New York. He was President (2010) of the Division of Psychoanalysis for the NY State Psychological Association, and is a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the International Psychoanalytic Association, and the International Federation of Psychoanalytic Societies. Dr. Mujica maintains a full-time private practice on the upper west side in Manhattan.
