An archival musical and film tribute to the iconic Cuban singer Benny Moré on the centennial year of his birth. Known to his fans the world over as the inimitable Bárbaro del Ritmo, Moré was a masterful interpreter of all Cuban popular genres and is considered Cuba’s most gifted singer.
El Beny, as he is affectionately referred to, also became the admirable conductor of his Banda Gigante, a big-band style orchestra inspired by Benny Goodman and Pérez Prado, while composing and recording romantic boleros, guarachas, or sones with equal success.
Our guide on this exclusive voyage down memory lane, which will include clips of Moré interpreting his most unforgettable songs, will be the popular cultural critic Armando López, whose unique presentations give audiences a well-balanced dosage of entertainment and
social context.
This presentation will be in Spanish with simultaneous English translation via earphones.
