A special screening of the critically acclaimed 2010 animated film by Fernando Trueba and Javier Mariscal. Set in Havana in 1948, Chico is a young piano player with big dreams. Rita is a beautiful singer with an extraordinary voice. Music and romantic desire unites them, but their journey – in the tradition of the Cuban ballad, the bolero – brings heartache and torment. Featuring the music of Dizzy Gillespie, Cole Porter, Thelonious Monk, and Bebo Valdés. The film won It won the Goya Award for Best Animated Film and was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature (the first nomination for a Spanish full-length animated film). In Spanish, with English subtitles.
