Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Carmen Carrasco began her artistic career at the age of 16, performing as a Middle Eastern dancer, having mastered the art of belly dancing and singing in the Arabic language. A few years later she began training with acting coach Raúl Serrano. Her natural talent and charisma helped her land many TV roles in daytime drama and special events, working alongside many of Argentina’s brightest TV stars. She has performed as a singer, dancer, and actress in Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and much of Latin America. Her role as one of the famed comedian Jorge Porcel’s variety show, “Las Gatitas y Ratones de Porcel” led to the recording of her first CD, Atrévete, garnering great critical acclaim. As an actress she has excelled in both theater and television, sharing the stage with stars of international renown, such Armando Roblán, Carlos Vives, and Mara Croato. As an entertainer she has amassed a wide and versatile repertoire of songs from around the world, singing fluently in 11 languages: Spanish, English, Italian, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Greek, Turkish, Hebrew, Japanese, and Armenian. And her distinctive voice has made her one of the most sought-after club singers of boleros and tangos in today’s New York City music scene.

This event is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
