The New York City launch of Los maricones van al cielo, Armando López Salamó‘s first novel. Witty and irreverent, the plot follows the adventures of a child in search of his identity, facing prejudice and intolerance along the way. The panel presentation, filmed in Miami’s iconic Books & Books bookstore, will include the author, film curator Alejandro Ríos, artist Ramón Alejandro, and filmmaker Orlando Jiménez Leal, who will discuss homosexuality in Cuba within the well defined parameters of a society that shuns any type of sexual transgression.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with the author, moderated by Manuel Rodríguez Ramos, head of our Literature Program.
This special literary and history event is part of our CreateNYC Language Access Series on Cuban History, Art, Literature, and Theater. It will be held in Spanish.
DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC, THIS PROGRAM WILL BE STREAMED THROUGH OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
