ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Carlos Vázquez and Lázara Díaz hold graduate degrees in teaching and performance from the famed Escuela Nacional de las Artes in Havana, as well as from the prestigious Alejandro García Caturla Conservatory, where they taught for two decades, a formidable experience that has served them well since their arrival in 2013 to the U.S., where they opened the Bona Fide Music Studio in Newark, New Jersey, assiduously preparing students of all ages for competitions, festivals, solo performances, duos, trios, quartets, guitar ensembles, and guitar orchestra.
Both Díaz and Vázquez have received individual master classes from the most emblematic figures of the guitar world, including Leo Brouwer, David Russell, Costa Cotsiolis, Wolfgang Lendle, Robert Ausel, Antonio Rodriguez, Ichiro Suzuki, Paolo Paolini, Victor Pelegrini, Eli Kassner, John William, Steve Goss, and Luigi Attademo. They have performed on radio and television, and in many festivals and concert halls in Cuba and the United States, and have played as guest artists for the world famous Ars Longa, the Martín Duo, and the prodigious guitarists Yamandú Costa and René Izquierdo. In 2017 Bona Fide recorded their first album, Doce Cuerdas, with the Latin Grammy winner, composer, and producer Yalil Guerra, and are currently working on their next album.
